Owing to the heavy downpour of rain, some of the Kentish towns are inundated. Boats are in the streets of Canterbury and Folkstone, and the surrounding country is flooded. Serious floods have also occurred in Sussex. Twenty degrees of frost have been registered in parts of Scotland. l'here have been heavy snowfalls in the Midland Countries.
