SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.
CARLTON v. UNITED
A senior champiunship match between Carlton and United was om mencecl on the Park Ova! on Saturday afternoon. N. Madsen, who was elected captain, won the toss, and de» cided to but. The innings producel 127 runs. A. Hoar played a splendid innings f'.r 39, while Styles gave a very neat display for 22. Mascelle, one of Maurieevilie's last year junior, teirn, made a successful debut as a senior, playing a particularly free innings for 29. A. Welch also played free cricket for 14 not out. Waters -j bowled well, taking 7 for 69. United ' replied with 62. Rothenoerg, compiling 26, Rave the field a lively time, being >jood on the leg side. Kingdon playej nicely for 12. but the others did not trouble Styles, Aymes, Mascelle and Temple, who secured the wickets. The following were the scores:

MASTERTON v. CARTERTON
At Carterton, on Saturday last, the Masterton and Carterton Seniors commenced a match. Masterton batted first and made 110. ihougb at one stage of the game only four wickets were down for 92, the tail making n feeble display. Mootehouse batted faultlessly for 45, his display all round the wicket being brilliant. There is some trouble ahead for Wairarapa bowlers when once this batsman strikes form. Con plaints were rife among junior cricketers on Saturday last at the failure of the classification com mittee to prom te several juniors to senior rank, there being at least two in t' e Carterton team and one in !?. Matthew's A who Bhould not be allowed to pJay junior any longer in fairness to the genera l bulk of tha jur.iur players. Ii is to bi loped that the class ficati< n committee wll rectify the existing state of affairs.
