WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Wellington District Land Board held its monthly meeting on Thnrsday. Mr Mackenzie, Commissioner, presided. Other members present were Messrs J. Dawson and H. T. Ellingh<*m. Mr W. Hornbsy attended with re> freenee to the proposed transfer of section 7, block G. Tiffin, Carrington Settlement, from Mrs LSarbara Byera (nee Clark) to her husband, Mr John Byers. —It was decided to make a favourable recommendation under the circumstances. The valuation made by the appraiser, appointed by the Board, of the fee simple of part of 3 of section 43, Nlangaweka Village Settlement, 1 rood, was laid before the board.— It was resolved to forward a copy to the selector in terms of, section 177 of the Land Act, 1908. The following transfers were approved on the usual conditions, and subject to satisfactory reports being received from the Crown Lards Rangers:—Section 3, Pongaroa Village Settlement, 60 acres, F. Shad' bolt to F. Eustage, subject to repayment of amount advanced for grass seed; section 94, block 1, Makuri, 13 acres, J. H. Walsh to W. A. Taylor; section 13, block 2, Mangahao, 180 acres, F. Ware to F. T. Home, provided transferee is eligible and suitable; section 5, block 6, Tirirau kawa, 200 acres, F. Griffin to W. R. Campbell; section 37, blocks 11 and 15, Mangaone, 200 acres, W. Nation to N. C. Percy; section 7, block 15, Mangapakeha, 832 acres, J. McLeay to W. H. French.

A report was received from the Crown Lands Ranger on the proposed transfer of section 12, block fi, Mount Cerberus, 82 acres, from Mr T. R. Hogg to Mrs E. A. Chatfield. —lt was resolved to approve the application.

With reference to the proposed transfer of section 6, block 8, Huangania Longbush Settlement, 792 acr s, from Mr A. Reside to him self and Mr W. Reside, a request was received from the parties to withdraw the application and to substitute in iieu thereof a trail--I'. r to Mr P. H. Nathan.—lt was resolved to approve both requests on the usual conditions ar.d subject to a satisfactory report from the Crown Lands Ranger.

Mrs Z. G. Astwood applied to transfer section 20, block 1, Manga one, 200 acres, to'Mr John Beech ; she also applied to sublease 15 to *2O acres of the section Mr F. 11. Vincent. —It was resolved to recommend the transfer, the Commissioner dissenting.

F. E. Petnenck's application to transfer the lease of section 38, Nireaha Village Settlement, which was held over from the last meeting of the board, was reconsidered.—l was resolved to further postpone the matter un'il next meeting.

The Commissioner reportrd (hat the acting Minister for Lands had declined to approve of the proposed tiansfer of" secthn 13, block 10, Maiiganui, from J. H. Waugh to H. Ritchfield, which was recommended by thf hoard at its meeting on August '26 th. 1909.

G. J. Small applied to tra-isfer the license of section 3. block 7, Hunua, to W. Thorpe (600 acres) —lt was resolved to recommend the transfer in terms of paragraph 2, sub-section A of section 84 of the Land Act, 1908.

Mrs M. A. Mackay applied to sublet a portion, about 26 acres, of section 3, block 5, Mount Cerberus, for six months, at an annual rental of £3o. It was resolved to obtain a report from the Crown Lands Ranger.

G. Lennie wrote further with re-

ference to the proposal to allot section 2a and 2b, block 11, Kaitieke, to him. —Resolved to approve of his obtaining section 2a on the same tenure as his original holiding if thera is power to do so.

S. Linton, leasee of suction 127, : Koro Koro Village SettletnMt, 4 acres, applied to be allowed to build a shop and dwelling attached, about i 36 x 36, to bs let to a Petone buaineaa firm for the sale of grocery and drapery, at £1 per week —Application approved.

Rev. Mr Huston, on behalf of the Presbyterian Maori Mission, applied to be allowed to select, without competition, section 7.. block 2, Hunua, in terms of section 128 of the Act of .1908 —It was decided that in the event of section 3, block 2, Hunua, being transferred by him to the Presbyterian Maori Mission there will be no objection to the aproval of the application for an area to be fixed, provided the value of the timber, as assessed by the Commissioner, is paid to the Crown in addition to the price of the land.

A report was received from the Crown Lands Ranger, together with a re-valuation of part section 8, block 6 Tiffin. Carrington Settlement, 91 acres.—lt was resolved to approve of the section being re offered as firstclass land on renewable lease, under the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, at the late rental of £7l 5s 6d per annum,weighted with £57 8s for improvements. The right was reserved to either pay this sum when received to the outgoing tenant or jt'ie public account as the Commissioner directs.
