PAHIATUA NEWS.

(From Oar Resident Reporter) Thursday. The concert and dance in the Hukanui Hall, in aid of the funds of that building, on Tuesday evening last, was a very enjoyable function. Items were rendered by the following ladies and gentlemen:—Songs by the Misses Foss (2), and Messrg Manson, Wright, McKinnon and Master Udy; duet by Mr and Mrs A. Udy; quartette by Mrs Morris, Miss Foss, Mr and Mrs Udy, and a glee by the Glee party. Recitacions were rendered by Mr R. Foss and Mr R. Saywell, and Miss Foss and Mr Manson rendered a pianoforte duet. Mrs J. D. Crewe left yesterday for a holiday trip to Christchurch. The social in connection with the .recently formed Court Tamaki, A.0.F., held in the Hamua Hall tn Tuesday evening was well attended and a very enjoyable evening spent, by those present. Visitors were present from Eketahuna, Pahiatua and j surrounding districts. j I understand that in connection j with the dairy cow competition at the forthcoming A. and P. bhow; on February 12th next, arrangements will be made to have the samples of milk tested by a competent local creamery manager. The local branch of the Salvation Army raised £Bl during self denial week, this amount being £9 less than that collected last year. The caretaker of the Recreation Ground certainly deserves credit for the way in which he worked to ensure the ground being in good order for the opening cricket match. He informed me that if it as at all possible he would keep the ground in good repair and as there are a lot of new members available for the club this year, this world-famed sport should flourish in Pahiatua.
