The "Daily Chronicle" reports that the authorities on Saturday morning closed all the shops at Kacconigi, and compelled the townsfolk to quit their dwellings, escorting them to a field outside the town, where they were surrounded by troops. Families of stationmasiers along the line to were evicted from their homes and sent to hotels at the State's expense. King Victor Emmanuel and the Czar on Sunday motored to the Royal Castle at Pollengo, and afterwards shot in the Racconigi pre-
serves. At a banquet in the evening King Victor Emmanuel welcomed the visit as "confirmation of the sincere friendship and concord of the arms uniting our houses. Governments and peoples." The Czar replied that he was confident that the Governments of Ii?lv and Russia would contribute by constant trustful 00-oparation to the peace of the world.

In connection with (he visit of the Czar to Italy, many privati houses have been decorated at the request of the Roman municipality. The Socialist Mayor of Ricconigi attended at Raccjnigi Palace to greet the Czar.
In connection with tha Czar's arrival at Racconigi, artists engaged to perform in the evening were forbidden to bring thiir dresjing cases and musical portfolios into public buildings.
