THE MASTERTON SEAT.
MR J. HUNTER WILL BE A GOVERNMENT CANDIDATE. Yesterday a Wairarapa Age representative asked Mr J. Hunter whether he had abandoned his intention of standing again for Parliament, and Mr Hunter replied, "Oh, no. So far as 1 know at the present time, I shall again offer my services to the and as a supporter of the Government. The position of political parties has changed a good deal as the result of last election. Prioi to then there appeared to be the possibility of a strong third party coming into existence, but the future will, j I think, show a trial of strength between the Government and Opposi-
tion parties. The people will h«ve to say which of the two parties they wish to see in power in the future. I don't think there is much doubt a« to what the answer will be. As you know, I have always had sympathy with the general policy of the Government, as I made clear at la3t General Election. There was, how ever, too much extravagance, but very necessary retrenchment has now been brought about, and in other ways the Ward Administration appeals to nie as a party faithfully serving the country, and rendering the people valuable service."
