Received October 20, 9 50 p.m. PAKIS, October 20.

The dairy section of Jthe Pure Food Congress which ie being held in Paris, after discussion, decided that butter may contain 18 per cent, of water instead of 16 per cent, as decided at the Geneva Congress Boron was recognised as a permissible preservative.

Other sections uf the Congress recommend that when jams are not exclusively composed of sugar and fruit the fact must be indicated by label, as also must the addition of chicory to coffee. It was deciled that the transport of mineral waters in wooden barrels should not be allowed.
