It may not be generally Known that the greatest candlemaking establishment in the world is in England. It is that of Price's Patknt Candle Company, Ltd. with two other large factories, one at Battersca on the Thames, and the other on the Mersey, neir Birkenhead, covering together thirty acres, and giving employment to about 2,200 people. The leading position held by the company is shown not merely by their having received the large number of eighty-six awards at the principal International Exhibitions during the past half century, but especially by the unique fact that five of these are Grand Prix gained in the greatest candle-pro-ducing countries of the European continent —namely, in Antwerp in 1894, Amsterdam | in 1890, Brussels in 1897, and Paris in 1899 and 1900. Some of the company's specialties are: Gold Medal Palmitine, Grand Prize Parastrine Shade, and Be3t Stearine Candle; .Childs', Koyal Castle, New Patent arid Palmitine Star Night Lights; Eegina, Glycerin Cream, and Court Toilet Soaps.
