Jtffries is returning to America. He states that he has been greatly benefited by his stay at Carlsbad, whither he went to take the waters. However, he weighs 16st'lllb. "If Jack Johrson carries out his announced programme and succeeds in winning all the matches that he has mapped out for himself, he will be champion of the world, beyond question of doubt," says the "San Francisco Chronicle" of 27th August. "Between spells in his Emeryville gymnasium while he was boxing; with Young Peter Jackson, Johnson told in brief of his plans. 'l'm eoing to be the real Champion of the world,' he declared, 'and no one will be able to question my right to title after I get through. I'm going to fight every man in the world who wants a crack at the heavy-weight championship. I will fight every one I have a chance to meet in California Then I will go Eaet and meet allcomers. AZter thiit I will go to France and fight McVej and Jue Jeannette, and if the National Sporting Club offers enough money I will fight Sam Langfurd in London. Jeftries, of course, has always first chance, but any chap who thinks he has a chance can get a whack at me. Not one of them will be missed, if I have anything to say about it." So it would seem as if Tommy feurns will have an opportunity of endea* vouring to regain his lost laurels.
