METEOROLOGICAL.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on bunday was 8 points., and for the same period preceding 9 a.m. yesterday 23 points. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 18. The following is Rev. Bates' wea ■ ther summary and forecast:—Low pressure of monsoonal type, has prevailed over the North Island, with the lowest pressure off East Cape, causing strong S.E. winds with cold and damp weather, especially on the East Coast of the North Island. High pressure in the South has given place to a westerly low pressure with freshening northerlies. Present indications are for unsettled weather generally, winds "changing by south to westward over the North Island with a slight rise in the barometer preceding a further fall, and northerly and westerly winds over the South Island. The glass will probably fall low in the South, and the weather be stormy for a few days.
