Received October 18, 9.25 p.m. OTTAWA, October 18. A serious fire occurred at Quebec yesterday, a era in elevator containing bushels of wheat, eight sheds full of freight, a cold storage warehouse, the Customs house being

destroyed. The Canadian-Pacific liner Em press of Irelan.i had a narrow escape from destruction.

During the fire a fireman was killed.

The damage amounts to 1,500,000 dollars. Trie insurance 13 only a quar ter of a million dollars.
