YOUTHS IN TROUBLE.

| A SERIES OP CHARGES OF THEFT. The two boys—Joseph Carr and Scanley Rule —were again brought before Mr W. G. Ridclell, S.M., on several charges of stealing. Altogether there were four informations, the property alleged to have been stolen aggregating £9l 10s. The charges were: 1. Stealing on or about the 7th inst., at Greytown, 2 rugs, cigar case, a cornet, a pair of fieldglasses, a Maori mat, a gun, a revolver, and cartridges, and a saddle and bridle, of a total vaule of £53, the property of Alice Mahupuku and others. 2. Stealing on the Bth inst, at Greytown, a bay gilding, vajued at £lO, the property of Thomas McKay Drummond. 3. Stealing on the same nay, at Greytown, a saddle and brid'e, valued at £3 103, the property of George McFarlane. v 4. Stealing on or about the 7th inst., at Grey town, a chestnut pony, valued at £25, the property of Jack Ri jhards. Both accused belong to Wellington. ■ It is alleged that they started wrong doing last April, when they stole two bicycles from the Te Aro baths. With these they proceeded to Grey town, where they fell in with some Maoris, for whom they have been working ior the past five months Last week they again set out, stating to their late employers they intended to go shearing. Instead they came on to Wellington, where they were arrested on charges of having stolen property belonging to the Maoris. The police are now enquiring for the owners of thi bicycles, which the boys sold to the Maoris. On the application of Chief Detec- , tive Brf>berg. accused were remanded till next Friday. They were admitted to bail in the sum of £lO each. •
