Mr and Mrs A King, of Carterton, celebrated their silver wedding oh Saturday, writes our Carterton correspondent.
The Rangitijcei Liberals are tendering a complimentary banquet to Messrs Meldru n, Hornbljw, and Georgetti at Mangaweka, on Monday, 38th insf. Mr H. Madsen, who has been on the staff of the Carterton braneh of the W F.C.A. for some time has been promoted to a position in the Pahiatua branch. The staff on Satur - day evening', writes our Carterton corrspondent, prasented Mr Madsen with a handsome travelling rug. Mr A. T. P. Hubbard, of the Department of Stock, was taken rather seriously ill while at the Lake Ferry on Friday last. A motor-eax was sent from here, and Mr Hubbard brought to his home in Carterto', where he is under the care of Dr. Johnston.
Mr Uodfrey Powell will represent New Zealand at the jubilee celebration of the general council of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, which meets at Manchester in June next. Mr Powell will leave Wellington in May. He has been a member of the society for the past sixteen years.
