, The monthly meeting of the Mas terton Trust Lands Trustees was held last evening, there being present—Mr C. E. Daniell (chairman), W. H. Jackson, T. B. Micheli, E. G. Eton, O. Pragnell, D. Caselberg, and H. C. L. Robinson. The treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of £21,241 3s 4d. The rent roil for the month to« tailed £75 Is Bd. The secretary of the Fire Police wrote, asking for a refund of rent paid for use of the Town Hall on the occasion of the banefit given in aid of Mr F. Boyle. O.i the motion of Mr D. Caselberg the rebate asked for was granted. The sum of £5, half the amount of the annual grant made to the Masterton South Band, was passed for payment. A report was received from Superintendent of the Masterton Fire Brigade, setting out work which it was necessary to carry out at the Town Hall, in order to make ample provision for exit in case of fire. The chairman stated that the request was practically a mandate from the responsible officer, ani if he insisted the work woull have to be carried out. Mr Kobinson thought that the alterations proposed did not go far enough. If ever a fire occurred in the Town Hall the danger would come with the crush on the staircase at the landing half way up. The better the facilities for exit from the dress circle the greater would be the crush on the staircase, and the more imminent the danger. Proper conveniences should also be provided at the Town Hall. It was decided to carry out the work detailed in the Superintendent's report, and a committee consisting of Messrs Daniell and Michell was set up to prepare specifications for the work.
