PAHIATUA NEWS.

(From Oar Resident Reporter)

Friday. DAIRY NOTES. During the month of September 1,6G7,9181bs of milk was delivered to the various factories and creameries of the Ballance Dairy Company, this amount yielding 62,70311)3 of butterfa% as against l ; 240 ( 8911bs of milk, equalling 45,90'11bs of butter-fat for the corresponding month in 1908. The average test for this month was a little better than for the corres ponding month last year, the average this year being 3.76. The exlra amount supplied this year wi 1 mean between nine tons of butter and ten tous of butter extra for the month's output. The dairy industry is making rapid strides in this district, and factories and cream =rks tire now dotted here and there in every portion where the land is in any way suitable for dairing. So far this year a splendid season has been experienced.

I understand that an extra vat i 3 to be placed in the Mangaramurarna Cheese Factory to cope with the extra supply and a vat is aUo being put in the Mangatainoka Cheese Factory for the purp~,s\ Th mi; ply at the first-named factorj is now over 1,100 gallons per day. Cheesemaking at the recently erected Rexdale Cheese Factory at Mangamaire is progressing very well, and I understand that the first ship nent of cheese from this factory will be consigned to London in abuut a week's time. The suppliers speak highly of their manager, Mr E. Greathead, a one-time Wairarapa resident, and it is stated that this factory will be of great benefit to the Mangamaire district. A good average test b being obtained.
