"A BACHELOR'S HONEYMOON."
Mr Hugh Ward's Company of comedians, which will make its first appearance in the Masterton Town Hall next Tuesday, October 19, in the popular farcical comedy "A Bachelor's Honeymoon," is at pesent playing to record houses in Wellington, where it has fully repeated its triumphs of Christchurch, Dunedin, Melbourne and West Australia. A Melbourne contemporary says:—"Mr Ward has got together a band of comedians who are well equipped tv deal with the airy but highly amusing nonsense which stands for the comedy of the moment." The evening's diversion begins when Benjamin Bacehelor brings home a bride, Juno Joyce, actress, but he has a strong motive for posing as a bachelor, in estate as well as in name, as a fortune enmes to him should he please a maiden sister, who unfortunately for him abhors the stage. He therefore introduces his wife as the new governess, but omits to tell her that he has been left grown-up twin daughters by a former marriage, whose lovers forsake them in favour of the new governess. The ensuing complications lead to some excruciatingly funny situations, which give ample opportunities to these artists to display their well-known capabilities in comedy business. Company is certainly a strong one, including such "stars" as Miss Grace Palotta, Miss Rose Musgrove, Miss Celia Ghiloni, and several other actors and actresses of prominence. Mr Hugh Ward not only takes leading roles in his productions, but also acts as director of his own enterprises. The box pian for Tuesday evening's performance of "A Bachelor's Honeymoon" will be opened at Miss Rive's this morning at 9 o'clock. The Company will vmt Greytown on Monday, October 18th.
