CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident tceporter). Tuesday. In the Magistrate's Court, this morning, two local booksellers and stationers, Arthur Phillpotts and William Tucker, were each fined 20s and costs 7s, on the information of the Inspector of Factories for failing to close their business premises at the hour of 9 o'clock on Saturday evening, August 21st, as required by law. An elderly man named Kenneth Mathews was to-day sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment on a charge of being an idle and dis orderly person, and having no lawful visible means of support. Mr S. Hollis, of Auckland, has been appointed delegate from the South.Wairarapa Poultry Association on the committee of the North Isand Poultry Association. Ihe members of the local Bowling Club have received an invitation to the opening of the Greytown green on Thursday.
