AN ENGLISHMAN'S HOME.
To-morrow (Wednesday) playgoers will have an opportunity to witness | the much discussed play "An English • man's Home.'' By special arrangement with Mr J. C. Williamson, Mr Edwin Geach's newly selected English dramatic company will produce the above production at the Town Halh A Sydney exchange says:— The play is so strong in a special feature that one is not apt to over look his function as a critic and discuss its effect upon the public. And when due allowance is made for its tremendous moments —the crowding of catastrophe—the insistent thought is 'But it might happen! 'Jould it happen. What is to prevent it from happening'?' The first act is like a rollicking farce, and there was laughter at the old man playing diabolo; and when the Brown household—men and women alike —talked football and sport, the author's scheme of laying the groundwork for tragedy was not fully seized. Many saw themselves pictured in the irresponsible self-complacent characters —as true to Australia as they are in England. Nothing could be more tragic than the uselessness of the Brown women in the time of emergency The picture of Maggie Brown sitting beside the wounded soldier, not knowing how to apply a bandage to his wound, was heightened by his life's bioou oozine: oat before her eyes. The Box Plan is open at Miss Rive's, whe/e seats can be obtained without any extra charge
