WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., reports as follows regarding Friday s sale:—We offered 2,500 skins, 1,-000 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was very animated throughout: coming to hand being held zor the opening sale of the new season cn November 12th. Skins: Very strong competitions at last sale prices, dead and inferior skins advancing a half penny. We quote: —Fine crossbreds, 8d to 9d; erossbreds, 7d to 8d; hogget skins, 6d to 72<1; dead skins, 4d to 6Jd; dead hoggets, 5d to 61d; quarter to half wools, 4d to 6Jd; dry pelts, 2£d to sd; green skins. 5s to 8s; spring lambs, 9d to Is 3d. Tallow: Firm, parcels in shipping order £23 15s; tins, £lB to £22 15s; rough fat, £lO to £l9 10s. Horsehair: Is to Is 5d per lb. Horns: 5s to 16s per hundred. Cowtails: Is 3d pfer dozen. Hides. Market firm We quote: —Ox hides, heavy, 6id to 7d; ox hides, medium, 6d to 6gd, ox hides, light, 5d to sgd; cow hides, 5d to s|d; cut and slippy hides, 2d to sd; stag hides, 2Jd to 4|d; bull hides, 2d to 4gd; yearlings, 5d to 6gd; calf, best, 7d to lOd; calf, medium, 5d to 6|d; calf, cut and slippy, 3d to sd. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Wellington, report on their skin sale held on Friday as follows:—We offered a large catalogue of wool, skins and hides to a representative gathering of buyers. Bidding was 1 keen for all classes of produce. Wool of which our catalogue comprised mostly medium crutchings, was eagerly competed for, and ruled in favour of sellers. Skins and hides were in good dematid, and sold at late rates, although some lines of the former were wanted at a farthing lower than last sale. Damp skina tiold at slightly lower rates than the extreme prices paid at last sale. Tallow ruled firm. We quote: Rough crossbred, 7d; dead, fijd; washed pieces, 5Jd; medium crushing?, 5d to 5Jd; inferior, Skins: Halfbred, 9£d; fine crossbred, 8d; medium crossbred, 7sd;j coarse, 7£d; rough crussbred, 6fd; dead, 4£d to sfd; lambs, sfd to 7£d; halfbred wools, 6d to6id; merino, short, 7d: half, dry and green crossbred?, heavy, 7s lOd to 8s; medium, 7s to 7s 6d; lighter, 6s 3d to 6a lid; light, 5s sd; lambs, Is 3d. Dalgety and Co , Ltd , report having held their fortnighly sale of wool, skins and hides, on Friday, when they offered a good catalogue of all classes to the usual attendance of buyers. [Prices were as follow Wool: Only a small offering, most lots baing held over for November sale. Prices were on a par with last sale. Crossbred, inferior, s£d to 6d: crossbred, dead, s|d toGgd; crutchings, 4£d; black seedy, 4Jd; washed pieces, 5d to sgd; locks and pieces, l£d to 4d; washed locks, 32<1. Rabbitskins, 9|d.
