CANADA AND HER NAVY. Received October 8. 10.30 pm. LONDON, October 8. The Ottawa correspondent of "The Times," reports that the Naval Defence Bill will be one of the first measures introduced in the session of the Canadian Parliament, opening on November 11th. Tne Government hope the Royal assent will be obtained before the session ends in order that Parliament may be enabled to vote money for the construction of cruisers and destroyers, nine of which will be placed on the Atlantic, and three on the Pacific. The capital expand! lire will be £4,000,000. The annual outlay will be £600,000. Negotiations are proceeding with the Admiralty for the immediate luah of a cruiser, which will be stationed in the Atlantic" for the purpose of training cadets and seamen. Received October 9, 1.10 a.m. MELBOURNE, October 8. The Minister of Defence states that the number of men to be sent to Australia from Britain in connection with the naval agreement has not been definitely fixed—certainly it would not be 2,000 as had been stated in trie House of Commons
