Crewe, the Mayor of Pahiatua, contemplates making a trip to the Old Country in the early part of next year, A committee meeting of the Woodlands Hunt Club will be held 111 the Commercial Hotel on Saturday even ■ ing. I understand that a new and up todate telephone switchboard is to he installed at the local Post Office. This will be pleasing news to both the exchange clerks and the subscribers, as the present system is not satisfactory. At the summoned meeting of the Court Pahiatua A.O.F. held last even - ing, Bro. E. Darley was appointed delegate to attend the Triennial District Conference, to beheld at Picton on D«cembar Ist. O.ie candidate was proposed for membership. A large quantity of correspondence was dealt with, and ordinary routine business wis transacted. There is talk of a Christy Minstrrl Society being formed in Pahiatua. The Tararua Cheese actory at Ballance has just started its second year with good prospects. Last year at this period 400 gallons of milk were delivered daily, while 600 gallons were received at the factory this morning. Timber is now on the a ground for effecting additions to the storingroom, boxmakingroom, etc., and a verandah is to be erec'ed around three sides of the building. Cheese was manufactured all through last winter, and the price paid out to the suppliers was 12.21 d per lb of buttir fat. The company have not, so far, sold this season's output and will most likely consigh on their own account. The annual social in connection with the Konini Football Club is being held in the Konini Hall this evening. For the nine months ending September 30th, a little over 40 inches of rain fell in Pahiatua, the 'Wettest month being January, when 7.51 inches f.ll, and the driest February, only 1.38 inches being recorded. So far this season no sensational catches of trout have been recorded. A very successful initial run of tha recently formed patrol of Boy Scouts was held this afternoon. A trail was laid over a hilly course of aDout «ix miles, and after the b'jys arrived at their destination they were treated to a dainty repast at Mr East's tea room?, by their leader, Mr A. H. Dallaston. which was'greatly appreciated by the patrol.
