THE MISSING DUCO.

SEARCH TO COMMENCE TODAY. By Telegraph -Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 6. The steamer Gertie and the training ship Amokura will commence their search to-morrow far the steamer Duco, which (eft Wellington for Chatham Islands on September 7th aid has not been seen since. The Amokura will steam about sixty miles in an east-south-easterly direction from Cape Palliser, then lor 600 miles east-north-east in a direct line. If the search is then unsuccessful she will zig-zag back to the New Zealand coast. The Gertie is to proceed in a direct easterly direction for about 60 miles, and wi 1 then hold away in a straight line to the northeast. She will then approach the track of the Amokura, and the two vessels will thus traverse a triangular course from Cape Palliser. Mr Whiteford, chief officer of the Government steamer Tutanekai, will represent the Marine Department aboard the Gertie. H.M.S. Challenger, which is coming from Auckland to Wellington, is to keep a look-out for the Duco. Mr Moore, agent for the Shipwreck Relief Society, will put aboard the Amokura and Gertie supplies of boots and clothes and other necessi • ties of the crew of the Duco if found.
