ALLEGED LIBEL.
A FARTHING DAMAGES. Received October 6, 8.55 p.m. SYDNEY, October 6. Peter Bowling, President of the Colliery Employers' Federation, claimed £I,OOO damages against the proprietor of the "Namoi Independent" for publishing alleged libel in connection with the recent strike at the Gunnedah Colliery. He was awarded a farthing damages.
