A HAIRDRESSER'S CLIENT.

EXCITING SCENE IN A SALOON. By Telegraph—Press Association. HAMILTON, October 4. A local barber had an exciting experience on Saturday evening, when a man under the influence of liquor walked in and requested a hair cut and shave. This being done, the intoxicated one whose name is Eustace W. Rose, refused payment, and com menced singing. On being pressed for payment, he drew a revolver and pulled the trigger in the barber's face. Fortunately, the weapon was not loaded. Rose then drew and flourished a sheath knife above, his head. The hairdresser sought refuge through a back door, and called the police sergeant in. The sergeant spoke to Rose, and the latter became abusive. He asked the officer if he wanted a "bash m the jaw." The sergeant's reply was to lay the man in the gutter and relieve nim of the knife, revolver and a box of cartridges. At the Police Court, this morning, Rose was charged with being drunk and using threatening behaviour. The police stated that Rose waa a "new chum," who evidently thought New Zealanders were barbarians. Defendant said he brought the revolver in for repairs., He did not remember committing the offence he was charged with. Mr Loughnan, S.M., considered the offence a serious one K and fined defendant £2 and co3ts.
