METEOROLOGICAL.

By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 30. The following is Rev. D. C. Bates'' summary and forecast: —Cloudy and wet weather has prevailed with moderate to strong northerly winds. The temperature had been high and the atmosphere humid. The present indications are favourable to thunderstorms, which will probably take place before th 3 winds change to the south-west, as may be expected after from 24 to 36 hours. In the meantime strong northerly winds and rain are probable generally,! with heavy seas north of East Cape between Castlepoint and Kaikoura, and on the West Coast of the South Island.

Mr J. C. Boddington reports as fol> lows: —Twelve points of rain fell on the Upper Plain during the 24 hours up till 9 am. on Thursday. Rain fell on 15 days in September, The maximum fall registered in 24 hours was 85 points on the 22nd, the minimum fall being 4 points on the 23rd. The total fpr the month was 3.83 inches, as agains,t 2 92, 8.02, 3.39, 6.24, and li*? 8 inches in September 1904, 1905, 1906, 1907, and 1908. v The total for the nine months is 29.82 inches, as against 30.91, 36.75, 34.55, 47.34, and 25.62 inches for the corresponding pecriod in 1904, .1905, 1906, 1907 and 1908. The average for Septem • ber is 4 36 inches, and the average for the nine months 34.16 inches.
