- The appointment of Mr William Scott, of Dunedin, as employers' on the Arbitration ■•Court, in succession to the late Mr -tjainuel Brown, has been approved ; <by the Governor. Her husband, who predeceased her, was a member of the Auckland City Council and later on he was superintendent of the Auckland Fire Bri jgade. MrF. O'Connell, son of Mr M. C. •O'Connell, of Maaterton, who was formerly <«n the Masterton staff of the. Bank of New South Wales, and who 1b now of Dunedin, has received notice of his transfer to Christ- * church. Mr O'ConnelPs many Masterton friends will be p eased to hear that hi* transfer means considerable promotion.: Mr John-Foster Fraser, the distinguished author, traveller and lecturer, reached Wellington on Wednesday from Australia, and was • tendered a public reception. T. iKennedy Macdonald, M.L.C., returned to Wellington by *the Moansi, on Wednesday, after a ■six months' hdlidavy trip, embraced sight seeing in Egypt, Italy, and France, and a visit to 'England. His original plans in-, eluded trips to other countries, but J, the holding of two sessions of the rftew Zealand Parliament this year "placed him 'under the necessity of htlrrying back to Wellington or forfeiting his seat in the Legislative Council, and he chose the former alternative. Mrs Macdonald, who had accompanied him throughout the v tour,, will return by a direct steamer in October.
