CARLTON CRICKET CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. Following is the Carlton Cricket Club's report for the past year:— In presenting before you the* seventh annual report and balance sheet, your Committee have much pleasure in stating that the Club is in a good sound financial position, there being a balance of assets over liabilities of £l4 Os Id. It is somewhat to be regretted that members have not taken as much interest in Club affairs lately as they might have "done, and your Committee trust that keer.er interest will be forthcoming in the ensuir.g season. It is with regret that we have to state that our worthy captain. Mr E. Welch, who has done so much for the Club since its inception, has decided to retire from active participation in the game, , and you will be called upon to elect a successor to pilot the Club, we trust in as able a manner as he has done. The thanks of the Club are due to Messrs J. O'Meara W. Piatt, D. Nicholson. H. Douglas and A, R. Maltby for donations and trophies. The best averages for the season were

as follows:—Thursday cricket —Batting: A. Hoar, 10 innings, 194 runs, average 19.4, A Styles, 12 .innings, 213 runs, average, 19.36. Bowling: K. Moss, 145 overs, 385 runs, 58 wickets, average (5 63. Saturday cricket.—Batting: R. Moss, average 34.77; A. Hoar, average 16.60. Bowling: Moss, 7.23; T. Hoar, 12.12. Mr Mass' performance with the ball last season was a most meritorious one, he having taken over one hundred wickets in Saturday an d Thursday championship matches. This is a Wairarapa record, and a performance which he should be proui of. Messrs A. Hoar and A. Styles are practically bracketed f:>r the batting average, there being a fraction only of a difference in the former's favour. Your Committee suggest that trophies be presented to both.
