HORSE FAIR AT CAMBRIDGE.
The Farmers' Co-operative Co., of ! Cambridge, reports as follows: — ! We held our annual spring horse fair |at Cambridge on September i4th, 15ht, 16th, a«id 17th, under favonr- ' able circufrs ances —-splendid weaj ther, large attendance of buyers j from all parts of the province, and a couple of Australians after good draughts. The latter bid for everything suitable up to a certain limit, and were a K reat h' lp to the market. Although no fancy prices were realised, values were fully up to expectations, and we believe the eale can be reported as successful as any we have held. Unbroken heavy draughts, 3 and 4 yesrs old, made £3O to £3B 10s; medium draughts, j same age. £2O to £2B 20s; yearling draughts, £8 to £11: 2 year olds, £lO to £ls; light unbroken horses —good upstanding sorts, £l4 to £l6 53; medium sorts, £8 to £l2; others, £4 to £7; heavy draughhts, 3to 6 years, £35 to £45; medium draughts same age, £25 to £33; aged, but sound medium and heavy dr. ughts, with a lot of work in them, - v £l6 to £22; upstanding l acks and hunters, well puced, and from 4 to 6 years, £2O to £3O; a few thoroughbreds, 18 to 28 guineas; good class ot cab, coach and carriage horses, £22 to £L'6; milk cart horses, £l4 to £2O; good hacks and cobs, £l4 to £18; useful light hacks, cobs and light harness horses, £8 to £l2; others, £3 to £7. The action, style and get up of a horse makes a wonderful difference in value, and this partly accounts for the range in quotations. A few of the sales are:—W. J. Corrigan averaged £35 for twenty-one medium and heavy draught, 3, 4, and 5 years old; Andrew Wallace, £39 for five same ages; H. Rhodes, £3O for eight; W. Kay, £3O 10s for four; W. J. Holt, £26 for five; Isaac Hodgson, £36 for three; N. K. Taylor, £24 tor thirteen medium draughts; W. J. McKee, £37 for two; J. J. Raynef, £36 15s for two; A. Souter, £39 15s for two five and six yeas old, and John Fraser, obtainpd £45 each for a gelding and mare, 5 and 6 years old. During the four dajs 941 horses were offered and of these 690 were gold, made up as follows: — First day: Offered 242, sold 184; second day, 261 2SO —196; fourth day, fh iahing about 1 2.30 p.m., 158—106.
