Mr Mark Cohen, of Dunedin, who has been attending the Imperial Press Conference, and Mrs Cohen, returned to Wellington, via Sydney yesterday. To-day is the twenty-filth anniversary of the Hon. T. Mackenzie's marriage, which took place at Bal> clutha. Mr Mackenzie arrived w'th his parents in New Zealand in 1858.
Mr A. S Bias, the well-known, Wellington accountant, has been nominated for a seat on the Councils of the New Zealand Accountants'" Institute for Wellington province. The Rev. A. J. Williams, of Napier, who has been away for about six months on a trip Home, retu-ned to New Zealand by the Ruapehu on Tuesd ay. A Press Association telegram states that Mrs Heyes, wife of MrPeter Heyes. Commissioner of Taxes, died somewhat unexpectedly at Wellington last night. She will be buried privately in Auckland. Mr Robert Parker, of Wellington, has accepted the Napiefr Musical and Elocution Competitions Society's' terms to act as judge for the 1910 competitions, which will take place in August of next year. Dr. Thomas, of Auckland, was the judge of the competitions held in Napier*'last month. Sir Joseph Ward, who is now on; his way from Vancouver to Fiji, on the R.M.S. Makura, is due to reach Suva on Monday next. He; will embark on H.M.S. Challenger for Auckland, and he is expected to reach the Northern city on Thuisday September 30th. A pretty wedding was celebrated l at the Presbyterian Church,. Dannevirke, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Florance Jean McKay, eldest: daughter of Mr and Mrs D. McKay was married to Mr Thomas Kenry Lionel Hitchins, only Fon of the late Mr T. B. Hitchins. of tue Wairarapa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev A.Grant. Miss Elsie McKay was. bridesmaid, and Mr Malcolm McKay was best man
Mr J. G Herdman, manager of Dalgely's wool and produce department, Wellington, has lieen appointed manager of the firm's Napier branch, in succession to Mr J. K. Goudy, who is retiring owing to illhealth. Mr W. S. Bennett, of theTownsville (Queensland) branch, succeeds Mr Herdman at Wellington. Mr v.Joudy, who is a son of the late Rev. Alexander P. Goudy, of Strabane. Tyrone has been associated with Dalgety'a Napier branch for very many years, and has done much towards building up the company's flourishing business in that district.
