- GOOD WAGES FOR GOOD WORKMEN. Received September 21, *.5 a.m. OTTAWA, September 20. The Canadian Department of Labour reports that the contractors for the Mountain section ot the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway are paying reasonable wages of two and threequarter dollars to three dollars (eleven to twelve shillings) daily. The department dissents from the men's contention that the contractors must accept good, bad, or indifferent workmen, as labour is scarce.
