AN EPIDEMIC OF FIRES.

GISBORNE, September 20 The Fire Brigade received four calls between 7 o'clock on Saturday night, and 3.30 o'clock on Sunday morning, three being r t for minor outbreaks, and the fourth for a fire at a small dwelling in Carnarvon street, occupied by Mr Snelgar, which was destroyed. Half-an-hour later the police discovered an outhouse in the Cooperative Supply Company's bakery on fire, a pile of dirty clothes having been saturated with olive oil, and ignited. The fire Was suppressed without much damage being done.
