FLOODS AND SLIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMEKSTON N., Sept 20. Heavy rains have fallen to-day. The afternoon trains from Waodville got through, but after it had passed there was a big slip in the middle of the Gorge, which came down midst'such heavy rain that the men were compelled to leave it.. The train which should have reached here from Dannevirke was stopped at Woodville, and the train from here to Wondville returned from Ashhurst, as it was impossible to tell the extent of the damage at present. It is not known whether communication can be restored by morning.. The slipsfare too bad for the pas>» sengers to be transferred. The rivers are rising..

No damage has been reported so fur, though the rain has been rough on lambs. . . OT.AKI, September 20. < Heavy rain fell yesterday and today. The rivers and creeks are up* and the country generally, waterlogged.
