The weather was fine and the wicket good. Laver put his lag in front to one of Carr's after adding two to his overnight scora. Thrte for 40. Macartney was foolishly run out at 61. Bardsley went one run later, and Carr with a "googley" dsposdd of Hartigan. Six for 84. Ransford and Armstrong became associated, and steady play followed, the century being hoistad in 94 minutes. Ransford lost his wicket attempting to run a short one. Armstrong fell a victim to one of Carr's "googlies." The seventh wicket fell at llu, and the eighth at 121. Cotter played vigorously, and hit tMo sixes. Nine for 148.
