KIA TO A HOCKEY CLUB DANCE.
The annual dance of the Kia Toa Hockey Club was held in the Town Hall, Greytown, on Thursday evening. About 140 couples were present, the music being supplied by Mrs Welch (violin), Mis* Maguire (piano), and Mr M. Maguire (cor- I net). The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Mrs Balfour, Misses McDonald, J. Bicknell, and Z.Humphries. The M.'s.C., Messrs N. Skeet, W. Humphries, W. Gates, and A. Coe, were untiring in their efforts to please dancers—by no means an easy task, seeing that visitors were present from Welling' ton, Hawke's Bay, Pahiatua, and every part of the Wairarapa. Extras were played by Mi sses Berrill, Wakelin, Udy, Hare, anu Mr Petersen. Apologies were received from Messra A. G. Major, W C. Buchanan and W.~ Barton, for non-attendance. During the evening, £Dr Bey, president of the club, in a happy a peech, in the absence of Mr A. C. Major, presented the Kia Toa Club with the "rtge" Cup, and complimented them on their prowess on the field. Mr D. P. Loasby suitably re sponded on behalf of the members. Dr Bey also presented Miss C. Terry with Mr H. Keltie's trophy for the most improved player in the team, and to Miss R. Murray a hand some silver-backed hand mirror as a token of the esteem in which she was held by the members, and for past services as secretary. Mr A. Murray suitably responded.
