Owing to further falls of rain play in the match of the Australian cricketers against an Ali-England team at Uttoexter was not started today till 2.10 p,.m. The wicket was very soft. Barnes and Buckenham, the two not-out men, continued the English innings. Shortly after starting Barnes played forward to Hopkins, who caught him. Trumpsr and Whitty started the Australians' innings, but the latter was bowled after making a single. One for 8. The second wicket fell at 21, \»hen Trumper skied one to cover-point. O'Connor added a couple, and then gave a catch to Tarrant at long-on. Three tor 23. Carkeek was batting soundly. He gave a chance to Jones at second slip off Buckenham when he had made 14. He put in a useful partnership with McAlister, the latter getting his score of 30 in fifty minutes. Four for «2 Carkeek batted 85 minutes, and then Hayes bowled him. Five for 90. bardsley and Macartney were together. but the latter was bowled immediately, without altering the total Noble joined Bardsley, but Lilley caught him at the wickets shortly after reaching double figures.
