CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Correspondent) Wednesday. The weather here still continues unsettled, A meeting of the Carterton United Friendly Societies' Council was held la3t evening, Bro. W. Partridge in the chair. The Kechabite Lodge wrote withdrawing its resolution in regard to the expenditure of funds on a card tournament trophy, and also notifying the retiring delegates had beer, re elected upon the Council. It was decided to support the action of the Wellington Council in sending a deputation to wait upon the Tramway Committee to point out the injustice being done to Friendly Society members in their employ by their sick pay as part of their wages when on leave through illness. It was further decided to call the Wellington Council's attention to the advisability of endeavouring to have a clause introduced in the proposed new Friendly Societies' Act dealing with the sick benefits as a whole, matter of dealing with the sports balance as a benevolent fund lor accidents was held over. Bro. W. Partridge was elected a member of the committee appointed to revise the rule 9.
