SPIRITUALISM.
THE BAYLY WAGERS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 8.
As Mr W. McLean, who brought Bayly, the spiritualist medium, from Melbourne, could not agree with Driver, the conjurer, as to the details of the test which the latter proposed to make of the medium's bona fides for a wager of £IOO, Mr McLean challenged the editor of the "New Zealand Times'' (Driver's stake holder) to take up the challenge for a third of the amount. The challenge was at once taken up by the newspaper man, who called, at Mr McLean's office to-day with a cheque for the amount, and offered to sign the necessary documents. Mr McLean said Bayly was leaving for th 6 South, and he would consult him and his controls as to whether he was prepared to go on with the test under the new conditions. Mr McLean told a reporter to-night that Bayly had not been able to give him a decided answer, but would write doing so from Timaru, whither he has gone to visit a sister, in the course uf two oi three days.
