BRITISH POLITICS.
THE BUDGET CONTROVERSY,
SILENCE OF MR BURNS.
Received September 7, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, September 6. The silence of the Right Hon. John Burns, President of the Local Government Board, in the Budget controversy is ascribed to the belief that he and the Lord Chancellor (Lord Loreburn) opposed the taxation of land values in the initiatory Cabinet discussions.
