TWO MEN DROWNED.

By Telegraph—Press Association. UISBORNE, September 6. At Muriwai, 6.70 inches of rain had fallen between 9 a.m. yesterday and Ipm. to-day. The coaches in the various parts of the district had to put back owing to slips. There is a temporary stoppage in the Borough water supply owing to a wash-awav in the pipe line. A man was drowned at Gold Creek. Hi& name was Thomas Robinson, and was aged 18 years. He was a stranger to the district. He was crossing the Gold Creek at the head of the railway works to get a cow, when the horse stumbled and fell, and he was washed down the creek. The body has not been recovered. McKenzie, the owner of the butchers' shop at Otoko railway works, was drowned this afternoon. The driver of the cart refused to cross the stream opposite the slaughter house. McKenzie said he would drive himself, and attempted to do so. The horse, cart and driver were swept away, and, have not since been seen.
