LABOUR TROUBLES.
THE PORTLAND DISPUTE
A COMPROMISE REACHED
Received September 6, 9.15 a.m. SYDNEY, September 6. A compromise has been reached in regard to the dispute at the Portland cement works, and the 500 who went on strike will resume work to-day. The settlement is conditional on the men's clairrs being considered by the Wages Board.
