TE WHARAU NOTES.
(From a Crrrespoir^nt), The Te Wharaa Bachi 1.1 ;•>' Ball, which event was much looked forward to by the you»n people of the district, tookplac . la;:c Friday evening, and it may be safely said that the highest anticipations were fully realised. 'l'he schoolroom, in which the dance was held, was taxed to its utmost capacity to hold the large number of people who were present from all parts of the country. Dancing commenced at 8 o'clock, and was carried on with great vigour until the small hours of the morning. During the evening the large company were entertained by Messrs Shaw, o 'Keefe, and Skipper, who gave songs and dances ol a very high order. The step dancing of this trio was especially artistic and was highly appreciated by all lovers of dancing. A most enjoyable evening's amusement was concluded by Mr Cotter proposing in a happy speech a hearty vote uf thanks to the bachelors for their untiring efforts to make the Bachelors' Ball one to be remembered with pleasure for many a day to come. Mr T. Richards replied on behalf of the bachand thanked the ladies and gentlemen for their presence that evening in such large numbers, especially those who had travelled long distances. Messrs Johnson and Richards capably officiated as M.'sC. Next Saturday the Te Wharau Rifle Range will be officially opened, when a large number of riflemen are expected to be present. Several members of the Club have been very busy during the in making all the necessary arrangements, and have installed a field telephone on the range, which will be oi great advantage to the shooters. Given favourable weather we may expect some very interesting shooting a& the Te Wharau Rifle Club has among its members some of the best shots in the Dominion.
