MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Mauriceviile County Council wan held on Saturday, 28tb August. There were prespnt—Cr. Forsberg, Perry, Dagg, Jackson and laakson. In the aosence of Cr Rummer (who attended after meeting began) Cr Dagg was voted tc the chair. The Valuer-General advised the Coucnil thai voucher for ray merit of subsidy on general ratua collected had beet) sent to the Treasury. The Under-Secretary for Public Works notified that, in grants for road and bridge work, when plans and specifications have to be submitted to the Department for approval such must be in duplicate. tJr Kummer wrote intimating that he would move that the resolution passed at the previous meeting, striking a general rate of three farthings it: the pound be received. , Mr W. G. Beard, solicitor, notified transfer of lessee of section 48, Mauriceville Settlement, to Hans Chriatenen. A large part of the time of the meeting was taken up considering Cr Rummer's proposal to strike a higher general rate than fd in the pound, but it was evident that the majority were opposed to any increase. He therefore reluctantly withdrew the resolution .of which he had given notice, and the minutes of the previous meeting, including the resolution striking a general rate of fd in the pound, were confirmed and sigred. The arrangement made by Cr Kummer with the Bank for a temporary overdraft were approved and endorsed. Cr Jackson was authorised to get a dangerous part of Mangamahoe Road near the saddle widened. It was decided that a meeting of the Council should be held on Saturday, 11th September, to confirm the special order made re new bylaw for the regulation of heavy traffic. Accounts mounting to £125 7s 4d were passed for payment.
