The Australian cricketers to-day commenced a match against a Marylebone team. The weather was fine, and the wicket fast. Foster won the toss, and sent in Tarrant and Moon. The first wicket went at 22, after twenty minutes' play, Tarrant failing to stop one of Cotter's. Moon took forty minutes by steady play to make his score. He was eventually bowbd off his pad. Two for 41. Ten runs later Llewellyn played on a ball from Cotter, and the same bowler also captured Gillingham, making his record four for 61. riardstaff was seventy minutes at the wicket. He gave a chance from a return to Armstrong, when he was 24. Five for 97. Foster was taken cleverly in the slips, and Austin went the same way, afcer forty minutes' steady play, the sixth wicket falling at 108. Seven for 141. [ Armstrong accounted for the remaining three wickets, which added 47 to the total. The eighth wicket i went at 164, and the ninth at 178. The innings latsed a hundred and ninety minutes. M.C.C.
