(From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. The annual concert under the auspices of St. Mark's Sunday School took place this evening, when there was a very fair audience. A splendid programme was rendered, and reflected credit upon the promoters, especially the superintendent, Mrs J. H. Wakelm. During the evening, Mrs Wakelin was the recipient of a handsome oak tray„ as a memento upon having completed 25 years' service in the school as a teacher. An inscription on the tray read::—"Presented to Mrs J. H. Wakelin,. Superintendent, by the parents and teachers of St. Mark's Sunday School, Carterton, on the occasion of having completed 25 years' service as a teacher." Mr R. Hopwood,. at |one time a resident of Carterton,, and nowj nf Taihape, is at present on a visit to this town. Mr and Mrs S. Hart, one of the few remaining pioneer families of the Wairarapa, celetrate their diamond wedding on Sunday, September 12th. The happy and unique event is to be celebrated by the Methodists with a social function on the following Monday evening, when a memento of the occasion will be presented to Mr and Mrs Hart by the church people and friends. The President of the Methodist Conference, as well as ministers of other denominations, are to be in- ' vited to attend the socia'. It may not be generally known that the greatest candlemaking establishment in the world is in England.
