Received August 30, 10 p.m. MEXICO. August 29. The overflowing of rivers caused enormous damage in Northern ' Mexico. Eight hundred persons perished at Monterey (670 miles north of Mexico City, with a population of 26,000), and fifteen thousand are homeless. The damage amounts to twelve million dollars. Many bridges and one hundred miles of railway track in the States of Coapiula have been destroyed. The Mexico Smelting Lead Company's losses are placed at three mil lion dollars. The damage done to the Monterey Steel Company's works amount to one million dollars. Half the city is inundated.
