THE GOVERNOR-GENERALSHIP. A RUMOUR. OTTAWA, August 27. It is rumoured in Ottawa that the British Government contemplates, offering the first Governor-General-ship of United South Africa to Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada. Sir Wilfrid Laurier declines to discuss the subject.
