HEREFORD CATTLE BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION

The following is the annual report I of the New Zealand Hereford Cattle j Breeders' Association, for tho I year endt'd 30th June:—Your Counj cil have great pleasuie in submitting | the statement of accounts and balance i sheet for the year ending 30tii June, I 1909, which will be presented at the I annual meeting to be held at the GarI age Club Room, Feilding, on Friday, | 24th September, at 1 p.m. The I balance of assets over liabilities is now £531 8s lid; and the profit on the year's transactions, after writing down the surplus copies of Volume XI. from actual cost price of 17s ( Jd to 5s each, is £56 lfis 3d. Publication of Volume XI. has, been completed, and is in the hands of members, and contains the regislration of 168 bulls and 826 cows and heifers. Members will doubtless be pleased to learn that the Live Stock Journal Co., England, are publishing another edition of the History of Hereford Cattle, which will be re-written and revised to date. Your Council recommend that 40 volumes of the work be procured, | which will provide a copy for each member and a few spare ones for j those joining the Association at a later dae. Hereford cattle are si til making headway in New Zealand, | as in all other parts of the world, their splendid constitutions and genera] freedom from disease rendering them particularly suitable for crossing purposes, where early maturity and profit are the primary objects aimed at. The President and Vice-Presidents (Messrs J. McGregor and F. W. Arbon) and two memers by of the Council (Messrs G. M. Currie and A. J. Toxward) retire by rotation, but are eligible for re-election.
