MARION HANDICAPS AND PENALTIES. By Telegraph—Special to the Age. MARTON, Auugst 27. The following are the handicaps for the Maiden Plate at the Marton races:—Wheroka, Rangikura, Mont Pelier, Seawind, Arivore, and Kaiwhaka 9.0,' Blue Gum, and Buying West, 8.12, Hiwera, Official, Puniu, Jackman and RaDU B.ll,Merry Messenger and Dolce 89, Tawiiaki, First Consul and Chauvelin 7.12, Rikioranga 7.9, \riom, Ambrosian and True Shot 7.7. The following incur 71b panalties through wins at Wairaripa, and the Hunt Club's meetings:— Hunt Cup.—Vagrant 11.12, Wild Oats, Mauri and Sir Lethe 11.7. Trial Hurdles —Clemency 11.0. Shorts Handicap —Overtime 7.11. Penalties are included in the above weights.

LOWER VALLEY NOMINATIONS

An attractive programme has been issued for the Lower Valley Jockey Club's annual race meeting, to be heid at Martinborough on September 30th and October Ist. Of the sixteen events provided the most important are the L.V.J.C. Handicap, of 120 sova., one mile; McFarhna Handicap, of 80 sovs, six furlongs; Martin Memorial Handicap, of 100 sovs, one mile; and Telegraph Handicap, of 70 sovs, six furlongs. Hacks are particularly well catered fjr, and altogether the programme is one that should lead to a successful meetine. Nominations close with Mr F. J. Read, Martinborough, on Sepember 6th.
