Mr Lloyd-George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, interviewed in London on his return from Rheims, said he thought the experiments were a great triumph. The Wrights' American machine'was the most sure and dependable of all. With the others there was always a half nervous apprehension that they might descend at any moment. The Chancellor added: "How I wished we were doing more towards this work, which may falter the history of the world I"

In connection with the Rheims tests, &l. Paulhan established a woi I i's record by remaining in the air for two hours 43 minutes 28 seconds, covering 81 2-5 miles. During the last portion of the fljg fc M. Paulhan gallantly contended wi h the rain and high wind until his petrol was exhausted. Mr X.atham covered 18 J miles in 32 minutes.
