TE WHARAU NOTES.
(Prom a Correspondent). The weather tor the past few weeks has been very cold and boisterous, with heavy showers of ram, while siiow has >v f alien, on the surrounding hills. A change seems to have now set in, as the past tl rae days have been beautiful, and feels more like spring, which should greatly benefit the many lambs which are now tf be seen skippii g about in the paddocks. Te '.Vharau had a rather severe attack of "Aerialitis" last wtek, when it was reported that four of o~r best known citizens had seen a strange light, apparently resembling a large ball of fire, followed by a string of bright lights. The symptoms seem to be similar to those in olher parts of the country, so we may fairly conclude that the "airship" people have condescended to pay us a welcome visit at last. A musical and literary club is shortly to be formed in Te Wharau, and-many ladies and gentlemen in the district are showing keen interest in what promises to be a verv pleasant as well as beneficial recreation. Messrs Jenkinson and Hubbard, stock inspectors, have been on a tour of inspection through the surrounding district last week, and have expresed themselves as highly satisfied with the work being done in the destruction of rabbits and other pests to the farmer. Mr Herbert, County .ngineer, has been through this wee' Examining the various roads and inking pr parations for metalling and seeing into road matters generally.
